Urge Congress to Support the Russell Amendment
Contact your Senators and Representatives and urge them to protect religious institutions from discrimination by supporting the Russell amendment!
An amendment to the Fiscal Year 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) by Congressman Steve Russell (R-OK) would clarify that existing civil rights laws protect religious employers from discrimination by the federal government in its grant-making and contracting practices. The adoption of this amendment would permit religious organizations the freedom to continue to hire and manage employment decisions based on the tenets of their faith, even when they compete for federal grants and contracts. This long-standing freedom was put in jeopardy by Executive Order 13672 (which bars federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of “sexual orientation” or “gender identity”) and related regulations.
