Follow-up needed on Planned Parenthood funding
Although a procedural vote in the Senate last week stopped legislation that would have barred all federal funds for Planned Parenthood, pro-life leaders are urging people to continue to contact their representatives on the issue. In a memo to diocesan Respect Life coordinators, Amy McInerny, executive director of The National Committee for a Human Life Amendment, Inc., reminded voters it is important to express their views on funding for Planned Parenthood.
“There may be other opportunities to obtain the goal of S. 1881. Please take a moment to say thank you if your senators were among the 53 voting for life. If your senators did not vote in favor of defunding Planned Parenthood, it is critical that they hear from you now. It only takes a moment to let them know we are still engaged and still expecting life-protecting decisions from them.
